Devastating Nightclub Fire Claims 59 Lives in North Macedonia
A tragic fire broke out during a live performance at a nightclub in Kocani, North Macedonia, leading to the deaths of 59 people and injuries to over 150 others. The incident occurred during a packed event featuring a well-known local hip-hop duo, drawing a large crowd from nearby towns, including Stip.
Interior Minister Pance Toskovski confirmed the rising death toll and stated that 35 of the victims have been identified so far. Among the deceased, 31 were residents of Kocani or neighboring Stip.
According to officials, the fire erupted after pyrotechnic effects used during the concert ignited the ceiling, which was reportedly made from highly flammable materials. The rapid spread of the flames left little time for escape.
Emergency services transported the injured to hospitals across the country, with medical teams working around the clock to treat burns and smoke inhalation injuries.
Authorities have issued arrest warrants for four individuals believed to be connected to the incident, as investigations continue into what safety lapses may have contributed to the scale of the tragedy.
This heartbreaking event has shaken the entire nation, prompting calls for stricter safety regulations in entertainment venues.
