OZworld Drops “MIKOTO 〜SUN NO KUNI〜” feat. Tsubaki & Awich – A Spiritual Cipher from Okinawa

January 22, 2024 – Tokyo
Genre-defying artist OZworld continues to carve his own path in the Japanese hip-hop universe with the latest visual from his third studio album SUN NO KUNI. The music video for “MIKOTO 〜SUN NO KUNI〜”, featuring fellow Okinawan talents Tsubaki and Awich, is now live—and it’s as layered as it is luminous.
Rooted in the traditions of Okinawa but driven by futuristic ambition, the track reflects on heritage, light, and shadow. “MIKOTO,” a word that evokes divine or noble authority, sets the tone. This isn’t just rap—it’s ritual. With poetic verses from all three artists, the song becomes a vessel for ancestral storytelling, pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with both reverence and rebellion.
Directed by Yoshihito Kato, who previously helmed visuals for “NINOKUNI,” the video is packed with easter eggs referencing OZworld’s evolving universe—nods to past works like “Gear 5” invite repeat watches and deeper interpretation. OZworld’s fans know: every frame has meaning.
The song and its video are a centerpiece of SUN NO KUNI, released in September 2023. The title itself is a layered metaphor: “Sun” for light, “San” (Japanese for 3) as a nod to the artist’s third album, web3 culture, and even birth or new beginnings. It’s a spiritual manifesto in the form of a 12-track album.
OZworld isn’t just a rapper—he’s a brand builder, a digital artist, and even part of a pro e-sports team. But this project shows that, at his core, he’s a messenger. And the message is clear: Okinawa’s soul speaks through the new generation.
Don’t miss: the SUN NO KUNI CLUB TOUR FINAL goes down on January 27 at Shinjuku ZERO TOKYO. Tickets are nearly gone, and word on the street says a surprise guest will shake the stage.
HipHopTokyo says: Tap in now—MIKOTO is more than a song. It’s a spiritual download from the land of the sun.
